Both Silverstream and Viracocha Alpacas were thrilled with their results against the best fleeces from around the world.

Silverstream entered eight fleeces and was placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in different classes and was the best and most successful of the NZ entries.

Silverstream were particularly pleased with their show results:

Silverstream Deja Vu (Silverstream Czar's full sister) was 4th in a huge, highly contested class of 54.
A great achievement.

Silverstream Fletcher (DB) won his class and had the finest fleece in the whole show.
All fleeces were grid sampled in Sydney and Fletcher came up with
15.8u
3.5sd
22.2cv

99.6cf

Silverstream First Rate a SW male sired by Attitude was placed 2nd in a very large class.

Viracocha Electric Mistress continues her winning streak in Australia

Viracocha Electric Mistress continues to dominate the Junior Black female class in Australia.

At her first show at the highly contested Colourbration Show in Australia she was awarded a 2nd place in a class with just under 20 entries against the best blacks on the Australian show circuit.

Bred from our elite lines, we knew as soon as she was born that Electric Mistress was going to make us proud. Her Dam and Sire proved themselves in the show ring winning at some of the largest shows in Australia.

Her second appearance at the Royal Melbourne Show, one of the biggest and most highly respected shows in Australia saw her triumph over 20 other entrants including Canchones ET cria. We couldn't have been more proud of her!

Electric Mistress has just recently won her class again at the Seymour Show in Australia and was awarded Best Black at the show.

From elite and famous genetics such as Purrumbete Highlander and Purrumbete El Dorado she carries some of the best bloodlines available.

Electric Mistress will be exported to the UK in 2008 and will join the black Anzac breeding programme.

ALPACA WINS TOP RAS AWARD AT 2007 ROYAL NZ SHOW - MEDIA RELEASE

Multiple Supreme Champion Award winner Silverstream Czar scooped the top prize of Supreme Champion Animal of Show at this year’s Royal New Zealand Show held in Christchurch on 14-16 November 2007.  The top ten animals in the show (2 sheep (wool and meat) 2 cattle (dairy and beef), 3 horses (in-hand, hack and pony), 1 goat, l llama and 1 alpaca) lined up in the main arena to be judged by three representatives of the Royal Agricultural Society.  “To win Supreme Champion Animal of Show, beating all other livestock was an absolute delight and a total surprise.  It is generally thought that mainstream livestock have this award to themselves and parading Silverstream Czar around the main show ring in front of a very enthusiastic crowd was the highlight of our alpaca career and a very emotional moment” said Kit Johnson.

Kit and Sheryl are justifiably proud of their breeding programme achievements.  It has been a great spring season in the show ring for their stud.  As well as Czar’s “supreme” efforts one of his half brothers won Supreme Champion Huacaya Alpaca at this year’s National Alpaca Expo held in Hamilton recently.  A sister of Czar won Senior Female Champion, Supreme Champion Fleece and Most Valuable Commercial Fleece at the Royal NZ Show. Whilst the Silverstream Alpaca Stud has consistently won many championship titles over the last three years this year has definitely been their most successful to date.  And the future looks promising as well.  One female cria sired by Czar has already placed well at recent shows with further new cria by him due on the ground shortly.

Silverstream Czar is the son of USA import ILR Alpine Fiber’s Brutus who has produced more show winners in New Zealand than any other stud male huacaya alpaca.  Brutus has consistently produced exceptionally fine fleeces and at eight years of age his own fleece still holds a micron of 22.   Czar’s dam (an Australian import) Pucara Juliana has also produced consistently.  Her four progeny to date are all Supreme Champion Huacaya winners.

Czar was bred by Kit and Sheryl Johnson of Silverstream Alpaca Stud based in Clarkville, North Canterbury. His illustrious career began as a young junior when he won his first two Supreme Champion Huacaya Alpaca awards in 2004 at the Manawatu and Canterbury A & P Shows.  He continued his winning streak in 2005 with further Supreme Champion awards at Hawkes Bay, 2006 at the Manawatu A & P Show and 2007 Ashburton A & P, Manawatu A & P Shows as well as last week’s Royal NZ Show.
